Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

We recognise that baptisms, weddings and funerals are key moments in life when you may want to be involved with a church, but whatever stage of life you are at, you are always welcome to come and join us.

Baptisms and Christenings

A baptism is a service that celebrates God's influence in your life. We are delighted to support people of all ages, whether they choose to be baptised as adults or to bring children to be baptised.

Baptism of children, or Christening, is a commitment to bring a child up in the Christian faith. You can find out more about infant baptism on the Church of England website.

Adult baptism is for those who wish to make a commitment of faith for themselves as adults. You can find out more about or adult baptism on the Church of England website.

If you are interested in a baptism service, either for a child or an adult, then please do let us know

Weddings

Getting married in a church is a wonderful celebration of the commitment you are making to each other. At St Aldhelm's we would be delighted to celebrate with you. Do take a look at the Church of England website to find out more about the wedding service, and let us know if you are interested in getting married at St Aldhelm's.

Reading of Banns

If you are getting married in a church elsewhere but live in or have connections with our parish, then you will need to complete a Banns Application Form. This is best discussed face to face, so do email us at bookings@staldhelms.org, and we'll go be in touch to make a time when we can meet up and go through the form with you.

Funerals

If you are in the midst of preparing for a funeral, then we are truly sorry for your loss. Please let us know if we can support you in any way at this time.

Most often, funerals are arranged in coordination with a funeral director. If you would like to hold the funeral at St Aldhelm's, then please let your funeral director know and they will get in touch with us. In the meantime, you will find lots of information about the funeral service on the Church of England website
